Slippery time.

Precious, I slice it up.

Everyone has a piece.

Often more than me.

My little ones sustain themselves on healthy portions.

Friends and family share it.

Work secures a chunk.

Strangers at the market gobble a morsel.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

At dawn I am bursting with it.

By dusk its surrendered

To others whom I have committed to.

Left with mere scraps.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

Night falls, I am tired.

My sleep seizes it.

I shut my eyes, preparing for slumber.

Maybe tomorrow I will savour a meaningful piece.
